We all desire to see a spiritual awakening in our land and it grieves us when we don’t see it come to pass. But we can’t give up! The greater the sin, the greater we must pray! We need the help of the Holy Spirit who intercedes through us as Romans 8:26 declares, “…the Spirit Himself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” These “groanings” of the Spirit represent intense intercession that is too deep for words!
Think of Elijah and the intensity of the prayers which he must have offered up to God when praying for rain after 3 1/2 years of drought. These prayers were not dry and empty prayers with no passion. These prayers were fueled by intense fire and passion and perseverance! Remember, God did not answer Him when he prayed the first time, nor the 2nd, nor the 3rd, nor the 4th, nor the 5th, nor the 6th…it took 7 agonizing, persistent prayers to get the job done!
Friend, if we want to see revival come to our land, we have to be persistent in prayer! We can’t just give up because we don’t see God answer as quickly as we would hope for. We have to keep pressing in and reminding God of His promises and holding Him to His Word! We have to make prayer our “mission” and continue to persevere despite what the outward conditions look like.
He is the same God of Elijah. If He answered yesterday, He will answer us today and forevermore!
